Indicator Species Project

August 13, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm

The Indicator Species is Lelavision’s latest project, bringing community together around a large public artwork and featuring performances, science talks, and wellness experiences. Company co-founder and sculptor, Ela Lamblin, is building a 35 foot tall interactive, kinetic, and musical sculpture of a Plecoptera nymph, commonly known as a stonefly. Making a parallel between ecosystem health and communal well-being, and drawing on diverse connections within the arts, sciences, and wellness professions, event creator Leah Mann will curate and program live presentations surrounding the sculpture at the historic Mukai Farm and Garden. BIPOC presenters will appear during the free three day event. Dancers, musicians, poets, visual artists, scientists, recovery specialists, and wellness professionals will explore the intersections of environmental justice, social justice, and racial justice.
